This is not a short boat trip, but a sea voyage with several legs, some night sailing, life on board and close coexistence in a small group. You will sleep on the yacht every night, moored in port, and take part in the full experience of planning the route, monitoring the weather and choosing the best possible observation point within the path of totality.
On eclipse day you will sail about 30 miles south from Port Calafat to find a suitable area according to wind, sea state, cloud cover, visibility and marine traffic. The exact point will be decided on the spot, always prioritising safety. You’ll have time to rest, prepare your cameras and enjoy the open horizon before totality, always using the included certified eclipse glasses.
The expedition includes a professional skipper, fuel, planned moorings in the programme, mandatory insurance, safety equipment, basic bed linen and towels, as well as coffee, tea, bottled water for normal consumption and some drinks and snacks to share. Main meals are not included: each participant organises and pays for their own food, combining restaurants in port with food they can bring on board.

Day 1: Marina Badalona – Port Calafat
Morning meeting at Marina Badalona, organising luggage, allocating spaces on board and safety briefing before setting sail towards Port Calafat.
This will be a long leg of sailing along the Catalan coast. Timings will be approximate and will depend on the wind, sea conditions and the average speed of the boat.
Arrival in Port Calafat is expected in the afternoon or at dusk. We will spend the first night on board with the yacht moored in the harbour.
Day 2: Port Calafat – Ebro Delta – Total eclipse – Port Calafat
Departure is scheduled around 09:00 from Port Calafat. We will sail towards the Ebro Delta to follow its coastline and enjoy, from the sea, one of the most distinctive natural landscapes in the Mediterranean.
During the crossing we will be able to admire the Delta’s long beaches, its low profile and wide open horizon. The sailing itself will be part of the experience before reaching the observation area for the total solar eclipse.
Recreational trolling
While we sail, and whenever safety, the route and current regulations allow, we can put out two rods and enjoy some light recreational trolling.
Trolling consists of sailing with lures trailed behind the yacht. It is a participative activity that lets you see how a fishing line is prepared and handled from a boat, always under the skipper’s supervision.
The activity will target only species whose capture is authorised. No catch can be guaranteed and catch and release will be prioritised whenever possible and safe for the fish.
Any fishing activity will be subject to licences, permits, closures, minimum sizes and any other regulations in force at the time of the expedition.
Observing the total eclipse from the sea
The route will continue towards an area within the path of totality, chosen according to cloud cover, visibility, wind, sea state and marine traffic.
Once we are in the chosen area, there will be time to rest, enjoy the surroundings, prepare cameras and organise the eclipse observation.
The Sun will be observed using certified eclipse glasses. Cameras, binoculars or telescopes must not be pointed directly at the Sun without specific solar filters appropriate for each device.
After the eclipse we will begin the night sail back to Port Calafat. Arrival is expected during the night, but an exact time cannot be guaranteed.
We will spend the second night on board with the yacht moored in Port Calafat.
Day 3: Port Calafat – L’Ametlla de Mar – Tarragona or nearby harbour
We will enjoy a shorter and calmer coastal leg, with the possibility of stopping for a swim if sea and weather conditions permit.
During the sail we will approach the offshore tuna farming installations near L’Ametlla de Mar to view them from the sea, always keeping a prudent and safe distance.
The approach will be carried out without interfering with the activity of the installations, without entering restricted areas and avoiding any risk to the boat, participants or aquaculture structures.
This part of the route will depend on marine traffic, sea conditions, regulations in force and the skipper’s judgement.
Arrival is expected in the afternoon in Tarragona or a nearby harbour. We will spend the third night on board with the yacht moored.
Day 4: Tarragona or nearby harbour – Marina Badalona
In the morning we will start the return sail to Marina Badalona, enjoying a final day’s passage along the Catalan coast.
Arrival is expected in the afternoon or at dusk, depending on the departure harbour, wind and sea state. An exact arrival time cannot be guaranteed, so participants should keep the whole day free.
The expedition will end upon disembarkation at Marina Badalona.

Recommended clothing: comfortable clothes, some light warm layers, windproof jacket, non‑slip footwear, swimsuit, cap and sunscreen.
On‑board rules: you must follow the skipper’s instructions at all times, especially during manoeuvres, night sailing and swimming from the boat.
